If I were going to pitch A Boy’s Life, I would begin by describing the character of Elliot. I would introduce E.T. and make it known that the relationship between him and Elliot is a strong bond. I would describe the changes that Elliot experiences in his personality and his growth as a character in response to his discovery and new found friendship with E.T. I would not try to hide the fact that the movie will have a big budget but rather try to win them over with the storyline to convince them that the screenplay is worth turning into a film. I would also stress the fact that this is a movie that both adults and children could relate to. Usually there are movies directed towards children and movies directed towards an older audience; however I feel that adults would appreciate this film just as much as children.

1. What genre of film would you consider E.T. to be?
2. Do you believe that acting without subtext works?

1. I would say that E.T. is primarily a science fiction film, though it contains many other elements as well, such as adventure and comedy.
2. Acting without subtext, in general, seems like a bad idea to me. It can work occasionally, but I think that playing the subtext is generally a much better way to go about acting.
