The heart of a boy is not far off from the heart of an alien. A Boy's Life begins in the innocent and gentle forests of southern California, but something is stirring. There are footsteps heard against the hard, forest floor and a harsh, unbearable noise is heard in the distant. In the midst of chaos and confusion, we see a spaceship go up and that is when we first see our stranded friend: E.T. Lost and confused, E.T. walks into the backyard of a young boy named Elliott. Together they embark on the adventure of a lifetime making a grand and daring attempt to return E.T. to his ship. Through the story, both connect in a special way, and through their bond, they have the friendship of a lifetime.
Discussion:
1.) As a director, how would you help the actor playing Elliott pick out the subtext?
2.) When pitching E.T., would you give a detailed synopsis of the film, or leave it more up to the listeners mind?
