A Boys Life blog #1

I enjoyed reading A Boys Life, it was an easy read, a real page turner. I read the whole script in one sitting. It was almost like I was reading a good book, I could'nt wait to read the next page, even though I knew what was going to happen. I had seen the movie when I was a kid, and loved it then, but after reading the script I have a new appreciation for the film. Melissa Mathison really knew exactly what she wanted when she wrote the scipt. I loved the way she turned the Keys into a character, every time you read Keys, your like "oh no", the Keys were almost a villan. I could see the whole movie in my head as I read the script, I felt like I was actually watching the movie, it was kind of exciting. There is moments where the story feels incomplete when your reading the script, because you can't see whats going on, you just have to use your imagination to fill in the gaps. I think screenplays can be read by non-professionals, I'm not a professional and I was able to enjoy the script, but that is probably because I've seen the movie.

1. Did the INT. EXT. headings start to disappear the more you read the script?

2. What was the signifigance of the M M E.T. put on Marys pillow?

2. I think the significance of E.T. placing the M&M on Gertie's pillow is that it was E.T.'s way of showing love to Gertie. In the beginning, the only way E.T. found Elliott was when Elliott placed M&M's on the ground. Elliott, without knowing, showed compassion and love to E.T. by feeding him in a time of need. So I think the way E.T. shows his friendship when there is no other way, is by simply placing the M&M on her pillow.
