Blog 2 Pitching ET

Pitching E.T. shouldn’t be too tasking. I would begin by breaking down A Boys Life into the ideal 3 minute length. ET, who is my main ‘who’, would be the center point of the log line. The ‘what’ would be the problem that E.T. faces (being stuck on Earth) in light with Elliot’s task of getting ET to ‘phone home’. After the above, I would proceed to set the tone and audience of the movie, young and old alike! Suggestions of past movies would be Star Wars, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Question s

Would it be a good idea at the end of the pitch to hand out a flyer with a mini EP Schedule; including the script break down, miniature budget, schedule, locations, etc.?

Pitch etiquette: It might be agreed that laughter is contagious; then again we all don’t laugh at the same thing. Would producers be too uptight if humor were thrown somewhere before or after (or in) a pitch and give you the door, or are they just not that intimidating?

  1. I think that would depend on the producers and the humor being used. I think it would be ok if it was part of the pitch and really fit in with what you were pitching. If you're just talking about making jokes out of left field that are unrelated to the subject, than, no, I would think that would be a bad idea.
