The tranquil quiet of the forest is shattered with something not of this world arrives. As the object disappears again, an inhabitant of the object is left astray. The "E.T." befriends a curious young boy named Elliot and the two become friends. They both learn a lot about their respective races. The E.T. also posesses mystical healing powers. But soon the adults, including Elliot's mother, begin to concern themselves over the newcomer. Soon, the government steps in to investigate and Elliot and E.T. begin a journey of survival as they face their fear so E.T. can get back to his own world. This is a story about how a child can make anyone or anything into a friend and how adults may not be able to readily accept that. One could also derive a form of fear in this story. A fear that most humans posess of things that are different, in this case, an alien from outer space.
Answer to question,
What would be your response to a pitch for this script? I would imagine this to be a motion picture that I would put my heart and soul into producing if i were given the opportunity. It is a wonderful story with many derived lessons.
Two posed questions,
1. Could this be construid as a metaphor for acceptance of other races?
2. If you had not seen the motion picture, how would you imagine E.T. to look like?
