Response 1, A Boy's Life

Reading the script was a little awkward, I have some experience reading script's but it wasn't like seeing a movie at all, especially E.T. I found it to be a little difficult for the first couple of pages, after that one seems to really get the hang of it and visualize what the script would look like in an actual movie. Perhaps this is due to the fact that I saw the movie E.T., if this were a script for a movie I've never seen, visualization might prove difficult.

I don't think that screenplays are meant to be read by nonprofessionals, it would be rather difficult for the average joe to make see a movie out of a script. It definitely takes a little practice to be able to properly analyze a script and make sense out of it. There's definitely a reason why individuals need training to analyze a script, and it makes sense why this class is a requirement for the film department.

Discussion Questions:

1.Discuss your experience reading A Boy's Life.

2. Are script's meant to be read by nonprofessionals?
