Creating a believable and persuading pitch for "A Boy's Life" would be a challenging task. I would start by explaining the simple and obvious things: An alien gets left behind on Earth by himself. The government is after him. I would say that he befriends a boy, and throughout the movie, the two become friends. He eventually becomes almost part of the family. I would underline the relationship between the alien and the family very boldly. Soon after the goverment finds the alien, the alien and his new human friends must help him reach his home planet, and escape using their childlike enthusiasm and a little help from the alien who has some amazing abilities. I would also explain that the movie is aimed at all viewers. It can be enjoyed by children, and adults the same. And then if that didn't work, I would beg them to make this movie, and say something like, "If this movie doesn't at least break even, the next movie I write will be free" (not that I'm getting paid that much anyways).
What would be your response to a pitch for this script?
If they asked you to describe the alien (E.T.), of any celebrity, who would you compare him to?
