If "The Apartment" were written in modern time, with modern filmaking and modern actors, would it be a hit?
Is script coverage truly a benifitting way to summarize an entire script?

I believe that if the script coverage is done by the right person, it is a good idea. Producing companies get thousands of scripts a day (I'm sure) and for every producer to read every one is impossible. But get someone trained that knows what they are doing to check over a script, and this process works.
If this script was made into a modern day film, the movie would most likely be utter crap. Comedy has progressed in such a farfetched way compared to 60's films, that a film like Superbad would stomp all over The Apartment joke for joke. However, The Apartment would still need need excellent filmmakers and excellent actors to pull the film off. Due to the fact The Apartment is a comedy, the production value has to be top dollar. Ultimately, the film would be a waste of time if it was green lighted today. Kind of like Spider Man 3 and Epic Movie 2.
