Questions:

1.  What are you views concerning Auteur Theory? Can directors be auteurs in film today?  Who are your favorite Auteurs?

2.  Do you believe that writers will become more acknowledged in the general public and to critics as cinema grows older?

I think some directors have the chops to leave their fingerprints all over their movies. They have a brand that's pretty close to indisputable. Some of the ones that come to mind are Hitchcock, Welles, Wilder, and Godard. Most never even come close to that level, that's more the issue with why there aren't more auteurs (or at least more obvious auteurs) working today. My favorite working today is Ridley Scott, he has a maniacal hold almost every aspect of his work. There's also Spielberg, who is almost his own genre. Others that might be considered for this list are Tarantino, Spike Lee, David Fincher, The Coen Brothers, and Scorsese. I'm sure others will make arguments for Park, or Waters, or Burton, or Brad Bird.
