The reunion of two friends brings the subtle battle of life accomplishments and clashing of personalities. John and Graham, two friends, seemingly brought to a point of elation and joy when united, begin a series of cheap shots followed by strong resistance with one another. It could be said that John, playing the role of the cheap shooter, and Graham, who as a result must play defense with a good offense, aren’t the best of people. We find out in this scene that not only is John kind of a dastardly fellow but Graham is cheating on his wife. This scene sets the mood of the script Sex, Lies, and Videotape.
The way Weston would, has, analyze this scene would be through a more subjective method. Mentioning the way the writer sees the scene or the way the scene makes the writer feel allows for a more personal analysis. While the way McKee might analyze this scene would involve a more objective or technical process.
1. How does Weston’s analytical style appeal to you?
2. How does McKee’s analysis style appeal to you?
