Without the visual references within the Witness script, the entire story plot would be lost. The opening scene is a good example. The very organized procession of the funeral and the movement of the Buggies as described by the writer sets up the ideals of the Amish for the reader. If the reader had no previous knowledge of Amish heritage it cold easily be inferred from this opening. Without this type of visual language, the ideals of the film would e lost on the audience.
Question 1: Would this film be as powerful if the story's dialogue focused more on Samuel than Rachel and Book?
Question 2: After reading this script as well as Butch Cassidy, which do you feel would have more potential in today's market?
