Sex Lies and Videotape by Steven Soderbergh was a rather interesting read, as I’m sure it would be translated into an interesting movie. Regarding scene analysis, I think I like Weston’s idea of the underlying meaning to a scene more than I like Mckee’s more scientific like approach. It really is more important to me than to know the overall character, rather than the summary of a scene. In the scene that Weston brings up, John is for sure the antagonist. He constantly tries to get a reaction out of Graham. Using Mckee’s turning point I can deduce that the turning point is when John brings up Elizabeth, Grahams ex girl friend. Graham does give a reaction, by totally changing his attitude, and not for the better. Went from a seemingly happy guy in this scene to being very somber and has a lack of words.
1) I always think it’s interesting to see who people would try to get casted if this movie were made now. Who would you try to get as an actor and why?
2) Are scene analyses necessary for EVERY scene?
