Blog #3 The Apartment.

The screenplay for “The Apartment” was very well written and I enjoyed it. One of the reasons being that I am a big fan of the late Jack Lemmon’s work and I could very easily imagine him in the role, even though I have not personally seen this film, (sad I know). I think that it is a great script and I am going to rent the film as soon as I can. Sure, it is a romantic comedy and most of them are repetitious in some form or another, but this particular take on romantic comedies seems to work for my personal taste.
The dialogue is very clever and witty, and the comic pacing is perfect. If anything at all didn’t work for me, it was the idea of this type of story happening in real life, at times, only a few times, it did not seem feasible to me.

As for the question,
How do you think the movie would change if it were to be done in modern day? I think first of all it would not be in black and white, which today seems to be only used for dramatic purposes. However, without black and white the comedy loses its "classic" appeal.

1. If this film was to be made today, which modern, A-list actor would you imagine in the lead role?

2. Who would the demographic be for the film if it were made today?
