There are many things that Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond did well in the script of “The Apartment”, as well as things they did not do as well. One thing they did right was use of Mckee’s characterization with Bud. We all knew what he would do before he did it. The authors also do a good job of letting the audiences know something that we want to tell the characters, but obviously cant. While the authors did many things well, there were also various problems with the script. It really did feel like I was reading a novel, or at least a script adapted from a novel. In one way this can be good for the director/director of photography. It leaves many things open. None of the characters were described very well, yet for some reason, I could picture actors for every character. The thing in the back of my head the entire time was haven’t these people ever heard of a hotel?
Over all The Apartment was an enjoyable story.
Questions
1) Do you feel the authors described what the characters looked like enough?
2) Does reading the words “ I work for an insurance company” turn you off of a story as much as it does me?

After the reading, I was able to come up with what the characters looked like. The way they spoke and interacted with others gave me a great impression on what they lookedl like...
