Boogie Nights, what more can I say? I think Boogie Nights is a great script that has good character development. I like the movie, but the script...not so much. I think the only reason the script is anygood because of the setting, porn. If a similar script were made about a topic that weren't so racy it would probably fail, and in a big way. However, like many things in the holly hood, it's not simply about the script, it's also about the talent that was reeled in for the film, Marky Whalberg, Burt Reynolds, Julianee Moore, Don Cheadle, and a host of other faces that have been seen in countless other movies. Needless to say, the success of the movie gravitated around the flesh and the talent. If not for that and the large amounts of money thrown at the script it simply wouldn't have panned out the way it did. This movie reminds me of Blow with Johnny Depp and 54 with Ryan Phillipe. The three movies basically tell the same story of a drug laced fantasy that comes falling down, and they all have the same cliches, back in the day setting, fast life, drugs, hot women, and sex. I read a blog that said it was like Pulp Fiction, hell yeah it is. It just gets old after awhile. Boogie Nights is a great movie, but I just want more.

1. Would the film be successful with different talent?
2. If the budget of this film were slashed in half would it be relevent at all?
