Boogie Nights has been one of the most explicit scripts I have read. Although the film is about pornography, I felt that the writer did an excellent job on developing the characters. The reader could clearly see how they changed throughout the script as well as share in the experience of their successes and failures. We could feel how much Dirk valued his power as a successful porn star and we could also feel his hurt and pain when it all came crashing down on him. We could also relate to Amber's feelings for her son as well as Little Bill's feelings about his wife. These are all basic human emotions.
For some reason, the script reminded me alot of Pulp Fiction. I felt it was very similar due to the storylines involving different characters taking place simultaneously and then all coming together at the end. I loved the way the script was written. The writer used alot of visual language involving many details. It was not wordy or lengthy and kept my attention throughout the entire script. I thought the script was very original because it took a controversial subject and made it into a form of art.

Discussion Questions
1. Did you see any similarities between Boogie Nights and Pulp Fiction? If so, what did you see?
2. Did you find any characters to be unnecessary? If so, who and why?
