Blog #7

Boogie Nights is a very simple film, but has a lot of meaning in the end. Although the dialogue is somewhat predictable, and not as creative as I expected, I really enjoyed the end of the script where everything comes together. This film, in my opinion, plays that role in showing people what comes with success. It shows how, although you feel like you have everything is the world, it can be taken away from you very quickly at a huge cost, if your ambitions were not for the good. Drugs, greed, and power rule each individual in this film. Even the Eddie's mother suffers from her yearn for power over her son as he leaves, and she doesn't get to spend her remaining years knowing what has become of her son; as well goes for the other characters in the film. It seems that their greed seems to play a huge role on how they end up in the film. Although the ending seems to be somewhat upbeat, with everyone reuniting in the end, we can see that they are not the same, and have not gone through the experiences that they once dreamed of. They end up together, because these are the only people they have. They are the forgotten, and only have what they know, which is each other.

Questions:

1) Do you feel that the technical instructions took away your focus in the film?

2) Do you feel that all the omissions in the script were worth it, or were there more that should have been shown?
