Boogie Nights

I personally did not like this script much .I was not quite my genre of story and it was a bit too graphic for my taste. However I do see how perhaps it may have been necessary to tell this kind of a story. I also did get a bit confused in a few scenes about exactly what was going on as well. In this script Anderson uses many camera directions which lets him control what the audience see or visualizes (even the audience that are the readers of the script). For example the first shot, was one really long shot in which the camera just follows some one or something till it meets another and then trades off to follow that instead. I thought this beginning shot really suited this scene. It gives the audience introductions to the characters. The shot flows together well from one character and event to the next. Thus it also helps create and add to the feeling of busy night club. I really like this first beginning shot.

Questions:

1.) In the technical directions Anderson uses cu. Do you know what that stands for I wasn’t sure?

2.) If you were directing this script what changes would you would you not make to the script and why?
