Boogie Nights

Boogie Nights

Paul Thomas Anderson did not hold anything back, when he was writing Boogie Nights. Anderson writes in the script the exact location, the type of car that is going to be in the shot, and how the shot is going to take place in the script. He also gives full details about the characters from there age, height, what they are wearing, etc. I like how vivid he detailed every event, which made it easier for me to visualize the picture in my head.

Anderson also did not hold anything back the language that he used in the script, and is not at all politically correct. He pushed things to new levels that I have never seen in a script, which I enjoyed. Anderson is very knowledgeable about the porn industry and portrays the highs and lows of the life of a porn star. Anderson cut some scenes out of the script, and I wonder why he did this? Could it be because they where to vulgar or out of place? I am very curious about why he took these scenes out, when the rest of the script pushes new limits.

Q1: Do you like Anderson’s style of writing?

Q2: Is anyone else curious about the scenes that where omitted in the script?

I was extremely curious about the omitted scenes. I keep wondering how much the dropped scenes would have changed the characters, if at all.
