Script Analysis was one of the more benefiting classes a film student could ask for. However, I am now a film minor so the class does not benefit my audit, but most certainly my knowledge. I am confident that I will be able to take what I have learned in this class and apply it to a variety of situations within the film business in the near future.
This course obviously got me reading scripts more. I enjoyed some, and some I really did not like. Overall, the class was pretty decent, and I do feel that I learned a lot. I think Sternberg or Sternburg or whatever. sucks. McKee kind of was boring too. But I thoroughly enjoyed Weston... We didn't read Egri in this class, but I enjoyed Egri...just to mention.
I only have a couple of suggestions... Take out Witness and the Apartment.... Everyone can live without those movies... Maybe focusing on one recent movie might help gain the student's attention that much more... Maybe Superbad, The Mist, There Will Be Blood, or No Country...... Those are just some movies I thought had exellent dialogue.
I think the professor of this class did an exellent job. I learned a lot. More than any other film class I have taken thus far. So 8 thumbs up to the professor.
Good times.
Discussion Questions:
1)How about a script like: Superbad, The Mist, There Will be Blood, or No Country?
2) Did you hate this class? Because I sure as hell did not.
