I like to look at scripts as if I were watching the film already. I like to visualize the films as I read it. With the scripts that we have read such as The Apartment and Adaptation, I have found it to be easy to visualize the stories. The writers such as Wilder and Kaufman, have intricate plots and characters as well as very intriguing conflicts between the characters and the situations that they face. In the case of The Apartment, I could easily see the story but with Adaptation, I would have to agree with others that it was a bit hard to follow at times with the transitions between the Kaufman scenes and the others, but it was an interesting story none the less. In answer Mr. Carullo’s question, “Do you believe that the main protagonist has to be likeable (a nice guy) or that the only requirement is that he should be intriguing?” I only believe the character has to be intriguing in order to drive the story along. It is not necessary for the main character to be likeable.
Question: Which of the three screenplays would be easiest to produce and direct for a student filmmaker?

The Apartment would be much easier to produce for a student film maker. Lacking much complication, the screenplay utilizes essential story telling components, such as great character dialogue and character interaction that provokes with nothing else. Most appealing and beneficial, the budget would be a great deal more affordable.

I also believe that The Apartment would be easier to produce for a student filmmaker and actually quite possible. The small number of locations and lack of stunts, makeup, wardrobe, and special effects would make this a very feasible shoot for a student to film.
