I had an idea of what Boogie Nights was about, but let's just say it was a little more graphic then I expected. For example, at the ending of the script, Dirk Digler pulls out his "Manhood" and says for what I am assuming as a famous line, "I'm a star, I'm a star, I'm a star. I'm a star. I'm a star, I'm a big bright shining star." This line was classic!!! Overall, the script went pretty smoothly. I enjoyed reading it and thought that Anderson's style was logical. Anderson's style is more like a film than a screenplay, or as one would say instead of a film, a novel. The descriptive tracking shots throughout the film gives the screenplay a more dynamic and lively tone. Afterall, the film has a lot of sex, which seems to be pretty lively to me.
As I was just writing this, I realized, "How come I wasn't wierded out by any of porn scenarios in the movie?" So, I have come to the conclusion that I have personally and obviously been exposed to certain things in life that many other people haven't. This script was extremely graphic and could probably scar some one for real if they have never heard the descriptions as written in the tex.
The screenplay was great though; it was an enjoyable, logical, and clear scipt.
Discussion Questions:
1) Was the script to graphic for you?
2) If you were Mr. P. Anderson, would you have inserted more sex content into the script or less for the narrative of the story?

Nah the script wasn't graphic...not for this day and age. We are exposed to this kind of stuff all the time, right? Then again maybe I'm just like you and BOTH of us are the weird ones...
